Name Change is Official!

We are now Missile Systems Retirees Association

Our new Logo

Our new Logo

A unanimous vote of members present at your Member Appreciation Dinner on April 30, 2015 made official what many interested parties had long been working toward–the change of the name of our organization to one that more inclusively acknowledges and honors all the legacy companies since the early 1950s that came together to create and maintain the premier engineering and production facility headquartered in Tucson, Arizona.

2015 Membership Drive is Underway!

As our organization enters its third year of existence, we do so under our new name–chosen to further reinforce the inclusiveness of our membership.

We hope this action will encourage you to:

  • re-up”, if you’re a current member,
  • rejoin” if your membership has lapsed,
  • or  just plain “join-up” if you’ve yet to become a member.

We’re an energetic and enthused group of like-minded retired or near-retired individuals.

  • Our common bond is sharing the pride and heritage of having worked at our Tucson Missile Systems location, for any of the numerous companies that, through the years, have blended into the current Raytheon Missile Systems.
  • Our purpose is to provide all Missile Systems’ retirees the opportunity to stay connected, share opportunities in as large a variety of social and community venues as we can develop, and help each other in addressing the many mysteries and challenges of preparing for and being retired.

It’s easy to join via the button on the Membership Page, and as in the past, costs only $20 for the year.  Dues paid now give you membership through all of 2015.

Please, join, and please encourage those you know who have not done so to try us out.

Best regards to each of you,

Your  Board of Directors

Four Local Charities to Receive $500 Each in MSRA’s 2015 Charitable Giving Campaign

At the February 5th Social and luncheon Tanque Verde Guest Ranch MSRA kicked off the 2015 Charitable Giving nominations–a program begun in 2013/14 to support local area charities.  Donation amounts depend on available funds generated by membership dues and the organizations are nominated by our members. The Board makes a final selection of recipients from the nominations received. The 2015 nomination submission deadline was March 31, 2015.

The 2015 recipients were announced at the Stillwell House Dinner Meeting:

  • HEAT Optimist Club
  • One on One Mentoring
  • The Haven
  • Therapeutic Riding of Tucson (TROT)

Guidelines for nomination and recipient selection are:

  • MSRA gives a portion of its available funds to charity each year. The amount is determined by the Board of Directors on a yearly basis.  Criteria for selection is as follows:
      • The Charity’s Funding is developed and spent in the greater Tucson area, giving back to our community.
      • The Charity provides volunteer opportunities that MSRA members can fill.
      • The Charity is nominated by MSRA member(s) in writing.
  • In order to maximize impact, our goal is to select no more than three (3) Charities each year.
  • Selected charities will be announced and notified in the Spring of 2015.

In 2014, HTRA made donations to:

  • Camp Wildcat
  • St. Luke’s Home
  • Gospel Rescue Mission
  • Christian Youth Theater – Tucson
  • Salvation Army Hospitality House
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tucson
  • Climb to Conquer Cancer at A Mountain

You are invited to nominate a worthy, local service organization for consideration in our 2016 Campaign for Charitable Giving. The criteria and Nomination Form are being developed and will be posted when they are available.
